Holder To Ban Religion In Terror Probes

According to NBC News, the Justice Department will soon prohibit religious  profiling in terror cases. The move, if true, would completely blind federal law  enforcement to the threat from Islamic extremism.

Already, the department has forced the FBI to bleach references to “Islam”  and “jihad” from its counterterrorism training materials. It’s also made it  harder for agents to infiltrate radical mosques.

But Attorney General Eric Holder reportedly now wants to make it illegal for  agents to even consider religion in their investigations.

Democrats on the Hill are cheering the changes, along with the ACLU and  radical Muslim Brotherhood front groups, who have all lobbied the administration  for them. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, which has seen several of  its officials jailed on terror-related charges, calls it “a step in the right  direction.”

Appearing before the Democrat-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee in 2012,  CAIR demanded the administration remove religion as a factor in terrorism  investigations, even though just four years earlier Justice had named CAIR an  unindicted terrorist co-conspirator.

The Islamic Society of North America, another designated co-conspirator,  hailed the move as a civil-rights victory worthy of praise from “Dr. Martin  Luther King Jr.”

The timing couldn’t be worse. Experts say that if anything, the U.S. should  be expanding its terrorist profile to include radical Muslim women along with  men. Russian intelligence warns female suicide bombers are threatening next  month’s Winter Olympics.

The FBI missed the Boston Marathon bombings because it failed to focus on  radicalized local Muslims. The only way law enforcement can effectively head off  future attacks — including possibly the upcoming Super Bowl in New Jersey — is  by gathering predictive intelligence in the Muslim community — namely, inside  mosques.

However, the attorney general is threatening to cut off these investigative  avenues for the FBI, as well as for border agents charged with protecting the  nation from Islamic extremists at airports and land crossings.

After 9/11, the Bush administration allowed agents to profile at U.S. borders  and in cases related to national security and terrorism. “Federal law  enforcement must use every legitimate tool to prevent future attacks,” states  the Justice Department’s “Guidance Regarding the Use of Race by Federal Law  Enforcement Agencies.”

These guidelines, in force since 2003, have been effective in disrupting some  42 attacks by Muslim terrorists against the homeland since 2001. Now they will  be amended to appease radical Muslim groups like CAIR.

After last year’s horrific attack on a Kenyan shopping mall, in which Muslim  terrorists shot people for failing to answer questions about Islam correctly,  CAIR showed its typical callous indifference.

“Who cares?” CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper shrugged, after the New York press  asked if the group was concerned American Muslims were involved in the plot.

“It doesn’t matter who’s involved — terrorism is terrorism,” Hooper said,  while insisting that terrorists are not being radicalized in mosques or the  Muslim community.

But federal indictments of terrorists consistently show they in fact are  being radicalized there. In virtually every case, defendants confess they were  motivated by Islam and its edicts to wage holy war on infidels. They all  devoutly worshipped at mosques where jihad was preached.

CAIR should know. It stepped in to block the FBI from investigating a mosque  in Minneapolis where several American teens attended before decamping to  Somalia, where they joined up with the al-Qaida branch behind the Kenyan  attacks.

Removing religion from jihadi terrorism is like removing Hell from religion.  It’s impossible. They are inseparable. This administration risks public safety  by trying.

State Department adviser on “extremism” urges U.S. to “befriend” al Qaeda

From Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch:

“Establishment “experts” on foreign policy and Islamic jihad terror generally suffer from willful ignorance about the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, and traffic in comforting politically correct fictions about Islam being a religion of peace that has been hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists — a fiction that has led the U.S. into numerous disastrous, indeed catastrophic, foreign policy errors. This is one of the more egregious manifestations of the self-defeating, futile courses of action they advocate: three members of the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations (Michael Doran, Will McCants, and Clint Watts, pictured above left to right in that order), including a former State Department Senior Adviser (McCants), advocate that we befriend an al Qaeda group that they think is “moderate” in order to wean it away from “extremism.”

This strategy has been followed again and again, and never accomplished anything but the loss of American lives and the waste of American money and materiel. For months now numerous people have claimed that if we didn’t aid the Syrian “moderates,” they would have nowhere to turn but to the “extremists.” We aided them, although not as much as some people would have liked (including Barack Obama and John Kerry), and they turned to the “extremists” anyway.

It is not surprising that the puerile and silly Will McCants is fronting this notion. He is one of the learned analysts who are essentially children in adult’s clothing, babbling on like fifth graders about “bad guys” and ideas that are “crazy pants.” McCants also harbors a Reza Aslan-like fondness for contemptuous Twitter abuse of those who dare to suggest that Islamic texts and teachings may sometimes incite believers to violence.

This is the kind of boy who sets State Department policy these days. No wonder we’re in the fix we’re in.”

State Department Adviser on Extremism Urges US to “Befriend” Al Qaeda

January 29, 2014 by

pic2012-12-22-93351

Officially there are no more terrorist attacks, just man-caused disasters brought about by offensive YouTube videos. Also there are no more terrorists. Just Violent Extremists. And there’s no more counter-terrorism, just experts on Countering Violent Extremism.

William McCants was a U.S. State Department senior adviser for countering violent extremism and is a director of the Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World at the Brookings liberal think tank.

At the CFR’s Foreign Affairs, McCants joined together with two others to argue that Ahrar al-Sham is, and I quote, “an al Qaeda–Linked Group Worth Befriending.”

With the collapse of the Free Syrian Army, the Islamic Front is now the only game in town for the people who insist that we should counter Al Qaeda by supporting Al Qaeda.

The article begins by defending Obama’s stupid jayvee crack, denounces the “political rights” and argues that, “The al Qaeda of yesterday is gone. What is left is a collection of many different splinter organizations, some of which have their own — and profoundly local — agendas.”

That line is a bit misleading. The Al Qaeda of yesterday is not  gone, it’s overshadowed by local organizations, meaning that Al Qaeda has accomplished its goal of serving as a vanguard for a global movement of terrorist groups committed to its worldview.

The “jayvees” have overshadowed the Lakers because they have more people, more weapons and more territory. While the Lakers are content to sit and watch the expansion of new franchises around the world.

“Today, two different al Qaeda affiliates, the al-Nusra front and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), are battling each other in Syria’s Raqqa province. Perhaps Oliver North might argue that it is incumbent on the United States to take out both groups. But a more nuanced take would lead the president to ask key questions before taking precipitate action.”

The article conveniently avoids answering the question while taking the time to sneer at Oliver North. But as the experts know full well, the old Al Qaeda had its share of violent conflicts.

The outcome of such a conflict is responsible for Zawahiri’s current position.

Then the article argues that Ahrar al-Sham and the rest of the Islamic Front are the best hope for defeating Al Qaeda in Iraq. That may or may not be so, but the article fails to qualify why we should care which flavor of Al Qaeda emerges victorious in the battle to lose to Assad.

“Second, designating Ahrar al-Sham as a terrorist group would destroy what little chance the United States has of building relationships with the other militias in the Islamic Front. Those relationships will be important for ensuring that the Front treats Syrian civilians well during the war and after, should Assad ever be toppled. Making a direct enemy of Ahrar al-Sham would also make it extremely difficult for U.S. nongovernmental organizations to move aid through territory controlled by it and the Islamic Front, because U.S. law prohibits working with terrorist organizations.”

Which would be a good thing, because we could finally stop providing aid to terrorists.

Are we supposed to collaborate with Al Qaeda in the hopes that it will treat civilians and NGOs well when it takes over? Does that sound like the behavior of any Al Qaeda linked group?

“Finally, Ahrar al-Sham’s leader, Hassan Abboud, has never endorsed bin Laden’s vision of a global jihad. His struggle is limited to Syria. Designating his group as a terrorist organization might backfire by pushing it completely into al Qaeda’s camp.”

And this is where it gets truly stupid.

The vision of a global Jihad wasn’t something that Bin Laden came up with, it was something that Islam came up with. A group that believes in the primacy of Islamic law and rule in Syria also believes that this state of affairs should exist worldwide.

Furthermore Al’Suri was Al Qaeda’s representative in Syria all along and was a co-founder of Ahrar al-Sham. That means a direct Al Qaeda involvement in setting up this flavor of Al Qaeda.

The article clings to the idea that we shouldn’t push an Al Qaeda linked group all the way into Al Qaeda’s camp by designating it as a terrorist group.

How exactly is this appeasement supposed to turn back time?

Terrorism Remains one of America’s Top Three Concerns

Sarah Jean Seman | Jan 27, 2014

Americans voted “defending the country from terrorism” as the third most important policy issue for Congress and the president to address, according to a Pew Research poll released Monday.

The only political agendas deemed more pressing were the economy and job growth:

The Pew Research Center’s annual survey of policy priorities, conducted Jan. 15-19 among 1,504 adults, finds that the public’s agenda continues to be dominated by the economy (80% top priority), jobs (74%) and terrorism (73%). As in past years, the lowest-rated priorities are dealing with global warming (29%) and dealing with global trade (28%).

Since Sept. 11, there have been 60 Islamist-inspired terror plots targeting locations all across the United States, according to the Heritage Foundation. International and U.S. law enforcement unearthed and intervened in 53 of these plots before they transpired. Another three were reportedly foiled by luck.

While there has not been a catastrophe on the scale of 9/11 in the past 12 years, terrorists have succeeded in attacking the homeland four times: (1) the intentional driving of an SUV into a crowd of students at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill in 2006; (2) the shooting at an army recruitment office in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2009; (3) the shooting by U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood, also in 2009; and (4) the bombings in Boston.

The study further showed that the number of terror plots has actually been increasing since 2001:

Americans may be right in their concern. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration seems more focused on income inequality and hiking taxes than on cultivating a strong counterterroism system for the American people.

Human Rights Attorney: Obama Complicit In Murder Of Christians

Human rights attorney Brooke Goldstein revealed that, “The Obama administration co-sponsored with the Muslim Brotherhood and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a resolution at the UN that criminalizes the use of the media to condemn Islam. We are supporting the pretext under which Christians are being murdered.”

Speaker at DC veterans rally calls on Obama to “put the Qur’an down”

…whatever is in [Obama’s] heart, and quite aside from the question of whether he is actually a Muslim, there is the pattern of his actions:

  • The State Department had an emissary in Egypt who trained operatives of the Brotherhood and other Islamist organizations in democracy procedures.
  • The State Department announced that the Obama administration would be “satisfied” with the election of a Muslim Brotherhood–dominated government in Egypt.
  • Secretary Clinton personally intervened to reverse a Bush-administration ruling that barred Tariq Ramadan, grandson of the Brotherhood’s founder and son of one of its most influential early leaders, from entering the United States.
  • The State Department collaborated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a bloc of governments heavily influenced by the Brotherhood, in seeking to restrict American free-speech rights in deference to sharia proscriptions against negative criticism of Islam.
  • The State Department excluded Israel, the world’s leading target of terrorism, from its “Global Counterterrorism Forum,” a group that brings the United States together with several Islamist governments, prominently including its co-chair, Turkey — which now finances Hamas and avidly supports the flotillas that seek to break Israel’s blockade of Hamas. At the forum’s kickoff, Secretary Clinton decried various terrorist attacks and groups; but she did not mention Hamas or attacks against Israel — in transparent deference to the Islamist governments, which echo the Brotherhood’s position that Hamas is not a terrorist organization and that attacks against Israel are not terrorism.
  • The State Department and the Obama administration waived congressional restrictions in order to transfer $1.5 billion dollars in aid to Egypt after the Muslim Brotherhood’s victory in the parliamentary elections.
  • The State Department and the Obama administration waived congressional restrictions in order to transfer millions of dollars in aid to the Palestinian territories notwithstanding that Gaza is ruled by the terrorist organization Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestinian branch.
  • The State Department and the administration hosted a contingent from Egypt’s newly elected parliament that included not only Muslim Brotherhood members but a member of the Islamic Group (Gamaa al-Islamiyya), which is formally designated as a foreign terrorist organization. The State Department refused to provide Americans with information about the process by which it issued a visa to a member of a designated terrorist organization, about how the members of the Egyptian delegation were selected, or about what security procedures were followed before the delegation was allowed to enter our country.
  • On a trip to Egypt, Secretary Clinton pressured General Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the military junta then governing the country, to surrender power to the parliament dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, and the then–newly elected president, Mohamed Morsi, a top Brotherhood official. She also visited with Morsi; immediately after his victory, Morsi had proclaimed that his top priorities included pressuring the United States to release the Blind Sheikh. Quite apart from the Brotherhood’s self-proclaimed “grand jihad” to destroy the United States . . . the group’s supreme guide, Mohammed Badie, publicly called for jihad against the United States in an October 2010 speech. After it became clear the Brotherhood would win the parliamentary election, Badie said the victory was a stepping stone to “the establishment of a just Islamic caliphate.”
